Eco-Printed Silk Scarf #099

This one-of-a-kind, hand-printed  silk scarf captures the beauty of nature with a soft abstract watercolor palette of blue- greens and warm yellow tones. Look closely to see how the leaf shapes integrate with the background. It drapes beautifully around your shoulders, adding an earthy, artistic touch to a simple outfit.  No two pieces in my shop are ever identical. The designs are colorfast and lightfast and will not wash out, but care for your purchase gently.

The Process: With this scarf I laid the leaves on the fabric and used a dye blanket of some variation of yellows and I tightly wrapped all this into a bundle around a pipe and simmered the bundle for 60 minutes in an electric turkey roaster to get this beautifully printed scarf. 

The Botanicals: Features Japanese Maple leaves and a yellow dye. The small dark shapes are cut up pieces of red Hibiscus petals which print a dark blue!

Fabric: 100% Silk 

Care: Hand wash cold with mild pH-neutral soap, or machine wash on a delicate cycle. Hang to dry out of direct sunlight to protect the natural plant pigments.
